Vidya Shah is the Chief Executive Officer of EdelGive Foundation (www.edelgive.org / https://edelweissfin.com), where she is responsible for providing strategic direction and guiding its overall development. Setup in 2007-8 by Edelweiss (www.edelweissfin.com), a large diversified financial services company in India, EdelGive Foundation’s raison d’être was to create a culture of philanthropy within Edelweiss and to bring the skills, resources and expertise of the for-profit sector to the not-for-profit sector.
In addition to being a board member of Edelweiss, she serves on the board of various prominent organizations like Agastya International Foundation, Asian Venture Philanthropy Network, Common Purpose, Bala Janaagraha, Women on Wings, Toolbox India Foundation and Masoom. In each of these organisations, her role enables her to contribute strategically to help build stronger and more sustainable institutions
She earned an MBA degree from IIM-Ahmedabad and spent the first 11 years of her career in the field of investment banking with companies like ICICI, Peregrine and NM Rothschild wherein, her role was to advise corporates in Capital Raising and M&A transactions. Later, she worked in the capacity of a Chief Financial Officer for the Edelweiss Group along with heading the Human Resources and Administration functions for the firm. In 2017, BFSI honoured Vidya as ‘Woman Achiever of the Year’ for her superlative achievements and exemplary work in EdelGive Foundation. Under her guidance, EdelGive was recognised for its efforts towards optimally channelizing CSR Budgets at the CNBC TV18 Financial Inclusion Awards 2016.
