Vijaye Bawri is a leading entrepreneur from North-east India. For over thirty years he has dedicated himself to the economic and social enhancement of North -East India. His efforts have resulted in uplifting the lives of thousands of people from economically challenged backgrounds.
He is the Founder and the Chairman of Bawri Finserv, which is North East India’s largest Financial Consultancy firm providing various Financial Services including Financial Planning, Investment Advisory & Portfolio Management Services.
In the financial sector, he has completed AMFI–Mutual Fund (Advisors) Module - “NSE’s Certification in Financial Markets” (NCFM), American Academy of Financial Management India – Chartered Financial Goal Planner & Actively Participated in 10 days’ programme on “International Marketing” conducted by The International Trade Centre, UNCTAD/GATT, Geneva Prior to focusing in the financial sector, Mr. Bawri had extensive business experience across various sectors including the field of manufacturing various types of Panels and composite products. Having earlier worked as Distributor, he also has a vast experience in the field of distribution for reputed FMCG companies of India such as IOC, ITC, Dunlop, Caltex, Lakme, Tata Oil Mills, etc.
At present Mr Bawri is deeply involved in the University project of the Salesians of Don Bosco and is part of the “Core-Team” that led to the establishment of Don Bosco University. The Team under able leadership of its Vice Chancellor Fr Stephen Mavely, SDB, is responsible for the overall growth and strategic direction of the University. Mr Bawri is serving the University since its inception as Director-Finance & Finance Officer and is an active member of its Governing Body and Board of Management, endeavouring to make the University sustainable and scalable.
He is a Permanent Invitee to the Steering Committee, constituted by Govt. of India, Ministry of Environment & Forest, to oversee & guide Development & Demonstration of Bamboo Based Composite Panels in the North Eastern region of India and is a Life member of Bamboo Society of India.
He is Co-Promoter of an eye-hospital in Meghalaya providing free eye-care to the poor and needy people, under a Trust called Bawri Trust. His family also runs a school in its native place in Rajasthan, India. A large number of impoverished children have availed of free education at the school. Mr. Bawri's father was a freedom-fighter who worked closely with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and was a Recipient of National Citizen Award from the then Prime Minister of India Shri Rajiv Gandhi.
He has served as Director, Treasurer & Secretary of Rotary Club of Shillong. During his tenure, the Club had organized a ‘Walkathon', in which Mother Teresa had proudly participated. He has also served as Chairman of a Joint Fund Raising Project of NGO Bodies to establish the first “Intensive Care Unit” at Nazareth Hospital, Shillong. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation.
He has served as President of Assam Chamber of Commerce, Executive Member of Meghalaya Industries Association, Asso. Member of Guwahati Stock Exchange, Member of N.F. Railway Users Divisional and Zonal Consultative Committees, a Govt. of India, Ministry of Railways body, besides serving on the board of several companies.
Among his other multiple non-profit social activities, he is Founder President of Shillong Chapter of Jaycees International and Amateur (Ham) Radio Club, Shillong. He was an active member of the Organising Committee of All India Symposiums on Renewal Energy Utilisation, Don Bosco National Integration Camp and Shillong Times Diamond Jubilee celebration. He is Patron of Shillong Cricket Association and North-East India Marwari Sammelan.
He was felicitated as "President’s Scout” by Hon’ble President of India. He is a Recipient of "21st Century Excellence Award" for Achievements and Contribution in chosen field of activity.
