Abbie Jung is a development professional with over 12 years of experience working with international aid and development agencies such as Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children, International Rescue Committee, Population Services International and the World Health Organization.
She is a strong advocate of philanthropic investment and social entrepreneurship as innovative tools to create a more just and sustainable world. She was the Chief Investment Officer at a Hong Kong-based venture philanthropy foundation. She co-founded Synergy Social Ventures to specifically address critical capacity building and financing gaps for early stage social ventures in the region.
Abbie is active in education and capacity building for innovative philanthropy and social entrepreneurship in Asia. As the Nexus Regional Director for East and Southeast Asia, she curates and convenes a range of events around these concepts. Abbie is on the Organizing Committee of the regional Philanthropy in Asia Summit and is creating the Asian chapter of the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) – a global network of funders, capacity builders and other intermediaries that support entrepreneurship as a means of sustainable socioeconomic development. She is also a Connector with the +SocialGood Community which leverages the power of technology and new media to make the world a better place.
She has a degree in Neurobiology from University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Public Health from Columbia University.
